Just a couple of flyers...
Well, I'm still technicaly grounded... that poses a potential problem for winning the NaBlApMo (nah blah po mo?) award... 30 posts in 30 days is hard when you're grounded... I won't really be able to post monday, I think. Regardless, today I went with my dad to Estershort park to help with our school's TKD demonstration. Not many of our students showed up... I looked really devoted! Thats good. I was first given flyer duty. That's the job of giving out flyers to people who really don't want one. I was assigned this with another kid named Andrew. He was fun to work with (although he would have been a lot more fun if he actually handed some out :). He was so darn shy!). So we walked up and down the street, trying to hand out flyers at the saturday market. Most of the people were old or babies... seriously. We found that single moms with kids tended to take the flyers. Well, for a time they were the only ones taking the flyers... This sparked the memorable quote: "Andrew, you go that way and look for single moms and I'll go this way." One lady handed back our flyer saying that she didn't want to waste any trees!  You have no idea how difficult that makes this job... ... tree hugers.... We took frequent donught (sp?) breaks. :) Master Yun supplied an ample ammount. There were so many! And we also got lunch! Yay! Master Y. and my dad kinda picked and we just went along. (Master Y: "How about here?" Dad: GREAT! *runs*) SLIGHTLY exadgarated, but same basic principal... We got a plate of rice and two skewered chicken things each. (well, I got one chicken thing). For five people, guess how much that cost? Think scalpers... Thirty-five dollars! It was going to be more, but the lady with a calculator who couldn't do math said "I give to da you phor 35? Sound OK?" But with mister  (I'm suprised they had a smiley to fit my needs for that) all hungry and not buying, that was a great deal. After that, we did a little more with the flyers. There was a gung-ho accordian player who was prolly from WW1... nice guy though... and a balloon-folder-maker-guy. After the flyers we got together at the tent (where more people from our school had showed up just for the demo) and re-grouped. We did our stuff in front of a croud and then at the end, took voulenteers from the audience. All the voulenteers were kids. They got to break a board, keep the broken remains, and get a free T-shirt. I'm sure we got some great PR outta that. Sadly, we only got two people to actually sign up from that whole day... well, two families. There were also two guys from some other martial arts place who came by just to whine and complain that we got the OK from the city to set up our tent in the park and they didn't. () Boo-hoo...
